Mr. Santos founded Arrowroot Family Office in 2013. With over 20 years of investment experience, he heads the investment committees of Arrowroot Family Office and its affiliated investment partnerships. Mr. Santos is also the co-founder of Arrowroot Partners, a broker dealer focused on mergers and acquisitions. Prior to founding Arrowroot Family Office, LLC, he was a Director for Salem Partners Wealth Management, a multi-family office and investment bank in Los Angeles. Mr. Santos was part of the seven-member investment committee that managed the financial affairs for a broad spectrum of domestic and international clients. Mr. Santos joined Salem Partners after working at JP Morgan Securities, where he serviced public bodies, money management firms and public and private companies. Prior to JP Morgan, he was a Senior Analyst at Bear Stearns. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Los Angeles Child Development Center. Mr. Santos is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) and holds the NASD Series 7, 24, 63, 66, and 79 licenses.
Ms. Apergis is the Chief Operating Officer of Arrowroot Family Office and is a member of the Investment Committee. With over 20 years of experience, she brings expertise in many key aspects of the financial services industry including investments, capital markets, operations, marketing and sales. Prior to joining Arrowroot, Ms. Apergis was an investment professional in wealth management at UBS, JPMorgan, Bear Stearns and Merrill Lynch. She also worked in business development with KLS Professional Advisors and clerked for the SEC.
Ms. Apergis received her J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, and graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a B.A. in Humanities, magna cum laude. She holds the Series 24, 27, 63, 65, and 79 licenses and is also a member of the State Bar of California.
Mr. McCarron joined Arrowroot Family office in 2020 after founding and operating the independent advisory firm Bond Wealth Management, a comprehensive advice and investment management company. Prior to Bond Wealth Management, Mark worked in Credit Default Swap and Corporate Bond credit trading in New York City. A Virginia native, Mark now lives in Charlottesville with his wife, Ashley, and their Labrador retrievers. He received a degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia in 2005, holds the CFP® designation from the CFP Board, and is recognized by the National Association of Personal Finance Advisors (NAPFA). His insights on financial planning have been featured in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today and WalletHub.
Diane began her career in finance in New York where she quickly became one of the first female sales managers at the firm. Over the span of her career, she has led a successful financial planning practice and a broker/dealer insurance agency. She left her office overlooking Times Square in 2000 to return to her home state of Michigan. After working as Director of Financial Planning for a large financial services firm, she started her own firm. The Athena Financial Group was established in 2004 and grew to become one of the largest female independently owned RIAs in the state. In 2021, she merged her firm with Arrowroot Family Office. A natural teacher, her passion for education is tireless.
Diane has taught Certified Financial Planning credentialing courses at New York University. She has given educational workshops for dozens of corporations and organizations. She even published a book, Owning Your Financial Success: A Savvy Women’s Guide to Financial Empowerment and writes a monthly column for Community Lifestyles.
In her free time, she enjoys boating, playing the piano, and volunteering in many civic organizations. She has raised two amazing children with her husband Randy, who is Associate Dean of Science at Macomb College.
Ben Porras joined the Arrowroot team as Managing Director with over 15 years of experience Ben has been in the field of financial services and investment management since 2002. He earned a B.A. from the University of California, at Berkeley and is a CFA® charter holder. Mr. Porras has also passed Part 1 of the Financial Risk Manager (FRM™) exam. Prior to joining Arrowroot Family Office, he served as Vice President at EP Wealth Advisors where he advised affluent individuals, businesses, and non-profit organizations in a CFO/Trusted Advisor capacity, including in the areas of investment management, taxes, estate planning, insurance, and lending.
Prior to EP Wealth Advisors, he served as Vice President Financial Consultant at Charles Schwab (NYSE: SCHW) in Century City, CA. While at Charles Schwab, Ben consulted and advised clients on assets totaling more than $500 million. He also served as a dual employee of both Charles Schwab Bank and Charles Schwab & Co. He was ranked the number one Financial Consultant in his first full year at Charles Schwab, and in 2005 was also chosen as one of three Financial Consultants to participate in the Denver Management Conference to develop Schwab’s new 2005 business model.
Outside of work, he enjoys singing, playing the guitar and composing his own music. He is extremely passionate about food and wine and in 2007, he passed the Level 1 Sommelier Exam through the Court of Master Sommeliers.
Dan began his financial career in Chicago, working for Edward Jones, where he built a successful practice. He joined the Athena Financial Group, now the Arrowroot Family Office because he wanted to work with a full-service, fee-only fiduciary firm that tailors to families, small businesses, and professionals. In addition to financial planning, Dan is in charge of investment research and policy at the firm. A native of Boston, he has a bachelor’s from the University of New England and a Masters from University of Miami (FL). In addition to his passion for finance, Dan is a exercise physiologist with over a decade of expertise. His main passion points included working with athletes to improve performance, in addition to helping the general population with their overall health and weight loss goals. At the root of Dan’s interests is a passion for helping people better themselves. He and his wife, Bre, live in Royal Oak with their dog Cosmo. In their spare time they enjoy music, cooking, working out, playing instruments at home and traveling. Their goal is to visit at least two new places each year!
Rory Henry, an accomplished tax professional, joins Arrowroot Family Office as Director of Business Development. For more than 12 years, Rory has worked with CPAs, Tax Attorneys and Enrolled agents to streamline all aspects of tax preparation, planning and resolution. Rory has a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Los Angeles, and passed the Series SIE, Series 63, and Series 65 Securities exams.
Throughout his career, Rory has worked closely with both federal and state taxing agencies to help clients solve complicated tax issues. Prior to joining Arrowroot Family Office, Rory founded Tax Tech Portal and Tax Upstart—two high-tech tax software and consulting companies. Rory’s adeptness at working with the latest software solutions has allowed him to help firms to streamline workflows, train staff, and provide a better customer experience. Additionally, Rory welcomes new opportunities to work with firms who are looking to grow their revenues through our partnership program.
Outside work, Rory is an avid sports fan, plays golf, and enjoys performing Improv at comedy theatres throughout Los Angeles.
Ms. Xu is an analyst at Arrowroot Family Office, focusing on operations and client service. She is a graduate from University of California, Los Angeles, with a B.A. in Economics and Sociology, minor in Asian American Studies. Prior to Arrowroot Family Office, Nornia worked at a law firm as a legal assistant and spend time at Morgan Stanley as a wealth management assistant.
Kristeen brings a sunny voice to our practice as she handles scheduling and administrative duties. She grew up in Warren and now lives in Shelby Township with her two school age children. While she enjoys running, she spends much of her free time watching her kids play soccer.
Kristeen is attending Macomb Community College working on associates in business administration.
